VINCENNES, IN – The Grant Association of Knox County, Inc. (GAKCI) was recently awarded a $1,000 grant by the Knox County Community Foundation. GAKCI will use the funds to provide a full-day grant writing and proposal development workshop on September 21, 2010.

Two concurrent workshops will be presented each hour throughout the day, allowing grantwriters at any level to attend the workshop of their choice to increase their skill-set and knowledge-base. Workshop topics include writing proposals, finding grants, creating budgets, reporting, partnering for success, and ensuring federal compliance. The keynote speaker will be Jamie Levy, President of J.D. Levy & Associates, an organizational development consulting and training firm. Indiana Youth Institute instructors and GAKCI Board members will lead the remaining instructional sessions.

GAKCI encourages those from throughout the county to attend, including local city/county agencies; high school principals and teachers; VU faculty and students; administrators of local non-profit organizations; leaders of faith-based organizations; or any community member who is seeking to refine their grant writing skills.

"GAKCI is pleased to be able to offer this educational opportunity to our local community," said Andrew Shepard-Smith, GAKCI President. “We hope to provide resources, give participants a chance to network, and increase understanding of the grant process, both pre-award and post-award. The Knox County Community Foundation continues to be supportive of GAKCI's initiatives.”

The workshop will take place at the Vincennes University campus in the ICAT building. The cost for participants is $25, and includes participation in all workshops, lunch, and a Grantsmanship book.
